Investigating Some Factors Affecting Relationship between the Level of Cohesiveness and Team Performance: Short Survey
Main Article Content
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to perform an empirical testing on the influence of positive group affective tone and task complexity as moderating variables on the curvilinear relationship between team cohesiveness and team performance. The results of the testing on empirical data confirm that the relationship between the two is an inverted U-shaped relationship. The implication of the research findings is that team performance is positively related to the three factors. The findings of this study suggest that in the event that work teams have become highly cohesive, which is manifested in collective-oriented behavior and the maintaining of personal relationships, managers should develop some interventions. The purpose is to decrease the level of cohesiveness in order for the group to be able to maintain its positive contributions to the organizations as well as to prevent negative consequences of high cohesiveness.
